I have found my passion in writing a research paper. After I took this class, I discovered that getting knowledge from writing a research paper is on a different level compared to simply searching for related data on the internet. As I continued to write more research papers, I became more familiar with places to look for the articles. In addition, I became more conscious while reading the research paper and learned to be more critical in judging the credibility of the paper. I found that I enjoy doing research to connect the evidence and check the credibility of a paper.
I believe that everyone should have the ability to discern the truth, and it is a necessary skill. While writing drafts for paper, I found that creating an outline helped me organize my idea, and it helped me visualize the direction of my paper, and my next step to complete the paper. It also helped me in writing my position paper, it felt like I was doing a debate, I had to assume what the reader would say to my statement, accept the strength of their evidence, and then show them their flaws. After writing the position paper, I began thinking more about how the readers would think or react to my paper, which helped me write a better paper based on who would be my reader. Finally, the group project helped me learn how to work with others, it was not just about bringing my idea, but to come to a common consensus on what is best for the group. I learned that group project is not just about dividing and doing your part of the work, but also to understand the role and work of others in the group and help each other in finishing our part, to create a good final product. I believe that I will continue to progress writing and reading scientific paper, as I continue to follow my path.
